Law of Attraction

There are times where I'll get in my giving mood, and I'll be real talkative to random people. This is never a bad idea. Someone could be having a really horrible day, and you could be the one to lift their spirits. You could call it karma, or you could call it the law of attraction but the same principle applies.

Today I was walking over to HEB to pay my cable bill, and on the way over there I talked to the Goodwill guy about what's okay to donate and what isn't. You could tell he was bored out of his mind because it's not a very active job. They give these guys a comfortable chair, and a small tv set of the work pace. At the end of our conversation I shake the man's hand, and this may not seem like a big deal until you realize how many people in these times don't really make physical contact with one another. I'm talking about people who don't know each other, and probably will never bump into each other again. For a stranger this shows you have a certain amount of respect for them without really even knowing them. That in itself may boost some peoples spirits.

I made my way across the parking lot, and there was this old man putting away groceries one at a time because at his age strength is a hard thing to come by. So while he was putting things away I offered to take his cart to put it away. He was greatful for what I had done, and he left with a smile. That made me feel good because being old must be pretty hard at times when people are yelling at you for driving to slow or taking too long at the bank. He was probably surprised that there were still people out there that would take the time out to help a complete stranger.

I paid my bill, and I bought a drink out the vending machine before I made the walk home. Drinks were 50 cents, and when I paid with a dollar bill I expected to get 50 cents change. Low and behold I got back a dollar in quarters. I got a drink for free. It may seem like a small gift, but I'll accept any gift given to me. I know I was given that small gift because I did something for others without expecting anything in return. Karma or the Law of Attraction, whatever you want to call it is for real.
